Currently living in Toronto, I am working full-time as a Photographer in the GTA, southern and eastern Ontario. I own and operate my company –kbt photography– focusing on photojournalistic wedding, portrait, boudoir, fashion, and editorial commercial photography.

I am passionate about developing my career as a freelance photojournalist - combining my desire to travel and cultural curiosities to taking on long term, creatively involved documentary work – expanding my company, experience and body of work.

I studied Photojournalism at Loyalist College in Belleville, Ontario, after having a early start in the darkroom at the age of nine. My father taught photography and gave me a tiny metal Fujica when I was five. I used it so often on family vacations to the Rocky Mountains that he had to refrain from giving me film.

In 2008 I traveled to the Kalahari Desert to photograph the San Bushmen, a series of portraits will be on exhibition during May 2009, as part of the Toronto CONTACT Photography Festival. Photography has taken me to Miami, New York City, through the Kalahari in Botswana and Namibia, and to many Canadian destinations. I worked a short while as staff photographer for the Medicine Hat Daily Newspaper in Alberta, and have been published in a collection of regional newspapers and on the Canadian Press newswire.

I am involved in my community in a variety of ways, volunteering, donating prints to charity, fundraising events and exhibiting my fine art photography in Toronto galleries and around southern Ontario.

Photography for me is an outlet for intuitive and pure observation of life’s natural beauty; I strive to capture truthful, narrative moments using what I like to call 'the art of people watching'. Photography has the ability to from transcending emotional connections, an element I find inspirational – the capacity of the human spirit to shine through a lens, camera, the eye of a photographer and eventually a photograph, connecting the end viewer to a fraction of a moment in time. I seek to achieve and portray this through my photography.

I talk to strangers; see photographs everywhere in life, use my imagination, ask questions, seek to form bonds and connections, to travel and explore and I am endlessly inspired by the potential of our inner and outer universe.
